BIFF MALIBU :
VOCALIST - GLUECIFER

"THE INTERVIEW" BY : UROTSUKIDOJI

U- How is the new CD/LP (Tender is the Savage... or TITS for short) selling compared to the last couple?

BIFF- Seems alright, haven't really checked it the last months. (Does anyone really believe it when bands say that?)

U- Do you think your style will change much on the next CD? Are you guys going to jump on the "Addidas Rock" or "Stoner Rock" band wagon?

BIFF- Our scope is pretty narrow, but I guess our rocks level of fatness will increase proportionally with our drummer Danny's beer-gut.

U- Any plans for a home video or DVD in the near future?

BIFF- DVD no, home-vid yeah. We’re compiling it right now. It will feature live-shows, interviews, behind the scenes footage of male genitals etc...

U- Who's idea was it to wear the matching bowling style shirts on stage?

BIFF- Jeff "Shooter" Stimms, our press agent. He has a thing for boys in uniform.

U- What other known (and unknown) bands have you sang/played with? (note: I was looking for the bands Biff had been in, but I worded this badly, so Biff thought I was asking what bands they had played with)

BIFF- Motorhead, Metallica (at a big outdoor festival in Denmark), Hellacopters, Nomads, Gaza Strippers to name a few.. I won’t mention German bands like Hellboys, Hellectric, Helliphants etc.

U- When people ask you what type of music do you play, what do you tell them?

BIFF- ROCK.

U- I saw you guys live in Toronto Canada, back in March (2000). With out a North American record deal (now on Subpop), you still managed to pack the club. Does this surprise you?

BIFF- Yeah a little, It was a great night.

U- If you can draw 300 - 400 people into a shitty club in Toronto, what size of crowd are you able to draw in Europe?

BIFF- Depends a little, I would say 500 to 1000.

U- What's your opinion of the heavy music scene in North America compared to Europe?

BIFF- Europe has a few good bands, and tons of bands that are awful. The level in NA seem a little higher overall, but I'm hoping there will be more really kickass stuff in the future. I don't see much hope in the kids though.

U- Are you guys making any real money yet, or do you still need day jobs like the rest of us?

BIFF- Making real money yeah, nothing that the IRS knows about though. We don't do day jobs anymore.

U- What's the worst job you ever had to do, to support yourself while being in the band?

BIFF- Bad jobs are below my dignity. I used to haul beer crates for a brewery once, but that's a long time ago.

U- What's your opinion of fans trading and selling bootleg videos of you guys live? Do you give a rats ass?

BIFF- I'm with Bruce Springsteen there, I don't care.

U- If you were offered the job of singing for the "Back Street Boys" for one million US $, but you could never sing (or do anything else) again in any other band, would you take it?

BIFF- No.

U- If you could make a wish, and have any band on the planet disappear forever, who would it be?

BIFF- See above.

U- What songs do you like playing live, which are the hardest?

BIFF- I like the groovier numbers like RipOff Strasse and Shitty City. The hardest ones are the ones at the end of the set.

U- Have you guys trashed you obligatory hotel room yet, or are you waiting till the band is bigger?

BIFF- No serious thrashing, I've thrown a bicycle and some deck chairs off a ferry boat once.

U- Dose everyone get a say in the writing?

BIFF- Pretty much yeah.

U- Who gets the most chicks in the band?

BIFF- A band like us are of course all very attractive...

U- What are your musical influences? Those from when you started, and those that inspire you today.

BIFF- Very wide, Rolling Stones, Ac/Dc, Stooges, NY-punk from the 70s, early Alice Cooper etc.

U- What CDs do you play when you are on your own, and no one is around to hear? Any embarrassing secrets you want to tell?

BIFF- I play a lot of mellow stuff, even some jazz. Embarrassing, well I've given Eminem a few spins lately.

U- What's the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to you on tour?

BIFF- Playing to 50 people at a halloween bash outside Nashville. It was more embarrassing for Motorhead though. (U- OUCH!!)

U- What's the proudest moment you have had as a member of this band?

BIFF- There have been many, but coming home to Oslo after our last European tour and playing for a packed house that really loved us was great.

U- You guys have played with a lot of bands over the years, so what other bands or musicians are cool to work with, and who just pissed you off, and made you want to kick them square in the nutz?

BIFF- We get along with most people actually. Hellacopters and Gaza Strippers are probably the guys we like the most. Local support acts in Germany and UK can be a pain in the ass sometimes.

U- What's your favourite beer/drink? And give us your best "drunk rock guy" story.

BIFF- We drink "Frydenlund" from Oslo. Aquavit is the national schnapps and it kicks ass. It is made from potatoes and spiced with cummin.

U- I'm going to name a band, you tell me your thoughts in 5 words or less:

Hellacopters : our best friends, great band.
Nomads : veterans, cool guys.
Kid Rock : who the hell is he?
Backyard Babies : swedes for good and bad.
Turbonegro : great band, some assholes here.
Limp Bis? (whatever their name is) : bad stuff, no songs.
Motorhead : respect!!
The Almighty : don't know them.
The Donnas : pretty girls, great sound.

U- Does the band get along well in the studio, our do you fight amongst yourselves over every note?

BIFF- We’re getting along better and better.

U- Would you rather tour with hard core Punkers or Metal heads? Why?

BIFF- Metal heads are more fun.

U- What's your favourite movie of all time?

BIFF- "Raging Bull".

U- As a band or musician, have you ever been pressured by a label to do something you didn't want to do? (song choices, lyrics etc.) Did you cave in, or tell them to "cram it"?

BIFF- We've just done things we like.

U- Every group of friends has someone who always gets picked on and teased, so who is it in Gluecifer? And what do you all do to him, or if its you, what do they do to you?

BIFF- It changes, but me and Danny have some friendly wars. All bad things happen to the one that falls asleep first.

U- Pick a letter A-E to complete this sentence; We (Gluecifer) are the Kings of Rock because ;
A) Everyone else just plane sucks.
B) Everyone else wants to be the king of Addidas Rock (Korn).
C) We get the most chicks, & drink the most booze, what else is needed to be king?
D) Anyone who dares to challenge us, gets his musical ass kicked so hard, no one else dares to get it on.
E) The Hellacopters are going soft.

BIFF- D.
